Volunteer foster carers needed for dogs and cats

Could you look after a cat or dog in need?

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home are looking for volunteer foster carers to provide temporary homes for animals who are most in need of care and attention.

“We’re looking for people who have time to care for cats or dogs in their own home.  We supply all food and equipment, cover medical costs and travel expenses.  To be a cat fosterer, we’re looking for someone with a spare room and the patience and care to give to undersocialised cats or newborn kittens.  For dog fosterers, we’re looking for people with dog experience who are happy to provide care to dogs who struggle to cope in our kennels until they are rehomed – ideally, you’ll have very few leaving hours and no young children.”

Join local businesses for lunch and networking at Jam Circus where we’ll be discussing business cards.

“Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark!”

What does your business card say about you? Is it helping or hindering your business? What details should you include? Recycled or gloss? Should you always wait to be asked for you card or can you offer it? Do you swap at the start of the conversation or the end? And what do you do with the mountain of other people’s cards you’ve collected?

Business cards are the currency of networking and there’s a minefield of etiquette ready to trip you up. Join us on 2nd November when we’ll be discussing how to get it right with business cards, and find out what your business card is really saying about your business.

Update: Rather than mere “nibbles” we’ll now have “global foods with a South African twist”, thanks to the amazing generosity of Denver Bennett of DB Foods! Read more here.

7:00 pm – Networking, cocktails and great food from Denver Bennett of DB Foods
7:30 pm – Brief introductions
7:45 pm – Group discussion: “What’s moved your business forward? What’s held it back?”
8:30 pm – Exhibit your work – or just explore the exhibits
9:00 pm – Close

The format for this event is a little different, as it’s being generously hosted by The Talent Factory SE6, a great new collaborative workspace just off the Bromley Road south of Catford.

Group discussion

In the spirit of collaboration, there won’t be a speaker at this event, but a group discussion instead. You are invited (but not compelled, if you’d rather just listen!) to share the highs and lows of running your business, to inspire others to overcome those niggling difficulties, and maybe find inspiration yourself:

  • What are the three things that have been most effective at moving your business forward?
  • What’s the single thing that’s most held you back?

Exhibit your work

After the group discussion, the size and flexibility of the space means you will have an opportunity to exhibit your work. For those whose work has no physical manifestation, a digital projector will be available.
